Single host in Finland needs kernel upgrade and reboot Tuesday 13th September 2022 10:35:27

We have a single host which needs a kernel upgrade and reboot in Finland. Your server will appear down for about 5-7 minutes. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Finally we are up! After unfortunately spending WAY too much time focusing on the wrong thing and doing complete firmware updates of the system, the issue turned out to be a couple of failing RAM sticks. After removing these the system came back up and all customer VPS are running normally again. We sincerely apologize for this extended outage - it could have been a lot shorter if only we had been able to spot the failing RAM sooner. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we worked through this issue.

We apologize for the delay here. It seems that a firmware upgrade did not do the trick and upon closer inspection it looks like there are a couple of RAM modules that are failing which may be the root cause. We are having remote hands remove those sticks and try one more time. If the system still doesn't boot we will proceed with the restore of customer VPS servers from the last known good snapshot from last night.

Unfortunately the system needs a full firmware upgrade of all components as the kernel upgrade deployed new microcode which is failing on the system, until we have the firmware upgraded. It is unknown at this time how long the upgrade will take.

If it takes a long time, we will restore all customer servers from the last automatic snapshot which was taken during the night.

Unfortunately we encountered a problem during boot which is causing delays. We hope to have the system up very soon.
